I have noted it is not always young women in the beginning of their career, even get mentioned in the list of contributing crew or groups mentioned in trailers, or before or after the movie. Sometime thay are just called "ladies" as in the case California Indian. So with a feminist approach I made an extra effort, searching online databases and other sources to find the names of the women. Since many of the movies I here write about are not what we generally would call Hollywood Mainstream, the same goes for many of the male characters. Very much the way as if we would try to make a move here in Finland, telling a story of one of our minority languagegroups. I happen to be born to parents with a swedish version / dialect but have learned on my way also other languages. (finnish, english, a bit of french) So often my approach to a new subject or project start with a linguistic study,

1. MOVIES: APACHE LEAP, TURQUOISE ROSE, ( with Natascha Kaye Johnson) LAKOTA DAUGHTERS, SMOKE SIGNALS and CALIFORNIA INDIAN. COYOTE SUMMER are some of the movies I have seen this year. All of them in YouTube. I will write more here later, my thoughts about these movies. But they are all very interesting because they are made in more recent years, none of them in the 1900's, all of them from 2000 and until 2025.In California Indian Gary Farmer plays a man who want to start upa casino with the idea it will genrate money for the children on the reservation. The plot is how a group of fathers hope to make some money for their wifes and children. Not all details are in order about the contract, for example some in the group of fathers feel the casino should not be placed in the place where they used to go fishing when they were younger.

Although this is not a traditional western with cowboys on horses, the story is good I think. Everybody has a car, except maybe the girl (In the movie called April, but was played by an actress named Julia Jones) who try to make a reportage about languages. She has a computer, but after a long day at work, her videocamera is broken and all her work for that day can apparently not be rescued. Luckily a man who work with a podcast or in a radiostation help her on her way home. 

I have also seen a YouTube video about languages: Have the Native Americans been here Always? / The lost History of Norhtern America. It is a video that may lead to discussion, because one hypthesis is there would be a connection between languages and the genetic DNA of the people who speak a certain language. So for example a woman speaking finnish would have for example DNA for light skincolour and fair hair. Seriously, in 2025, who would go for this as accurate? But otherwise the video contain much information about the topic of where different lingvistic groups have lived in the USA. And if your first language not is english or american, there are texts and spoken lectures, maps and other illustrations in this video. 

2 LOGOTYPES: Today, (19 february 2025) I have started with a logotype for this page. It is a rowanberry I think, but can maybe also be printed later on different coloured textiles or materials. It can be seen as a rowanberry with two small hills, or the letter M as in Maja. Some dots make it into a smiling child with two eyes and a mouth. The eyes can also bee seen as cottages or huts on a hill or slope, a mountainside. 

3  FUTURE: Irma & Mari. Something here about two female characters, maybe sisters, their life and clothes. Their relation to each other and people they meet. Or want to meet, male beings and their odd behavior...

4 LEARNING and studying: I play with ideas for two persons, at least. Try to find names for the charachters and ideas för their relation. For example I can think the name Anahi sounds a bit exotic for a young girl, so if I then will make a manuscript with rather simple plot I can make her meet a young man and have a best friend and participate in various activities. I can choose a place I want for the movie. Say for instance I make it all happen on an iceland called HAIDA, or HAILUOTO or something like that. Then a working title for this (short or long) movie could be HAIDA KIDS. I tend to find  these new names every day, depending on what I happen to read or listen to.
